The Hudson Tavern is all downtown New York vibes, with a friendly take on the casual neighbourhood eatery.
Having recently opened at the Mondrian Doha, it is already the hottest post-work venue in town.
UPDATE: For New Year’s Eve 2017 Hudson Tavern will offer an open bar for QR350 per person serving a selection of enhanced beverages and bite snacks with a DJ playing all night. For more information call +974 4045 5500
Why Hudson Tavern is your post-work urban escape!
Here are five reasons why you should be checking out the Hudson Tavern!
1. Wow Interiors
There is an open kitchen which brings a slight industrial touch to the space. But it’s really all about the different warming tones of wood and brick.
Exposed brick walls and varying wood textures bring a rustic touch to the interiors of the restaurant, while the parquet chevron flooring provides a great backdrop for the different textures and shapes of the interior design.
With the venue split into two separate areas – restaurant and the bar – there are plenty of options for you to find the perfect spot to enjoy that post-work meal and drink. They also have some great booth options for a comfortable dining experience.
Think Instagram-worthy!
2. Chefs who do more than cook…
“When you walk through the doors we want you to have the feeling of being comfortable, of a sense of home.” So says Chef Julian Gabriel, who has a culinary background working with hospitality groups in Cape Town and London.
He knows that the food is important, but he is also enthusiastic about the importance of the guest experience. Julian has a warm welcome for guests and a joke or three too!
His colleague Chef Juan Vizcaino Martin comes to Qatar via London and Barcelona bringing with him plenty of passion for his first Middle East posting. He has overseen the Hudson Tavern menu to showcase the best of craft burgers with grass-fed Australian Black Angus Beef.
3. Burgers and more
For a hotel venue the burgers are reasonably priced with prices starting at 60 QAR. There are also plenty of add-ons if you’re looking to supersize your burger. They also have sweet potato fries on the menu – something not enough restaurants offer in Doha.
The House Burger is Hudson Tavern’s signature burger – it is the highest priced burger at QAR 95. Diners are presented with a double beef patty burger with delicious bulgogi short ribs that provide a slight sweet note to the burger.
The beef patties are generously covered in melted cheese and finished off beautifully with a perfectly-fried egg. If you’re looking to indulge then this is the burger for you.
The Hot Chicken Sandwich is for those of you who love strong flavours. Spicy buttermilk chicken is served with a generous blue cheese sauce that brings some oomph to the dish!
The menu is focused with just enough variety to keep guests happy. The appetisers include poutine (made with mozzarella), and chili cheese nachos. With their baked pretzel sticks the Hudson culinary team have created a sophisticated take on this popular and more-ish salty snack.
For those of you who enjoy your meat there is the ‘Meat Your Maker’ Burger which has an 8oz patty compared to the normal 6oz one. If you really want to go the extra mile you can also add on extra beef patties, and extra cheese.
4. Brewed drinks, and a surprisingly good Peach Tea!
There is a separate drinks menu with plenty of choices from brewed alcoholic drinks to fun soda floats such as the Raspberry Bees Knees. They also have an excellent Peach Tea that is refreshing without being too sweet.
The Hudson Tavern has just introduced a Daily Happy Hour running from 4:00pm until 7:00pm. They have a Pitch Up Platter with frosty pitchers served with a selection of appetisers including the Buffalo Wings and Chili Cheese Nachos.

5. It’s not always about sports
Hudson Tavern does show sports at their in-house bar, but they also have an excellent in house DJ.
DJ Natalie Roache keeps the energy going with a mix of new age disco and other upbeat tunes. Recently arrived in Doha from the Irish shores she is just as friendly and approachable as the rest of the Hudson Tavern staff.
With an interesting menu, cosy interiors and warm service there are plenty of reasons why you should visit Hudson for a post-work chill out with friends. And watch some sports (if that’s something that you’re interested in!)
