Eid in Qatar – Eid Al Adha Festival 2015

We are all looking forward to Eid Al-Adha and the annual Festival arranged by Qatar Tourism Authority. Eid Al-Adha Festival will be celebrated for five days from the first day of Eid, with special family events and entertainments across Doha including cartoon character shows.

The Festival is scheduled to take place from Wednesday 23rd until Sunday 27th September 2015. UPDATE: As the new moon was not sighted last night Eid has been scheduled as occurring on Thursday, instead of Wednesday. The new dates and timings have not yet been officially confirmed – however it is assumed that the Festival will now take place from Thursday 24th to Monday 28th September 2015.

Eid in Qatar – What’s Going On?

The Eid Al-Adha Festival has been organised in a similar manner to this Summer’s Eid Al-Fitr Celebrations with events organized in collaboration with public and private sector partners including Malls and popular tourist destinations.

Eid Al-Adha celebrations will extend to all parts of the country at tourism hotspots including Souq Waqif – where live music concerts will be held – Katara, Aspire Park, The Pearl-Qatar, Al Dosari Zoo and Game Reserve, and the Sheikh Faisal Al Thani Museum.

QTA aims for the annual Eid Al-Adha Festival to increase inbound tourists from neighbouring GCC countries through organising and arranging family-friendly tourist events into Qatar’s calendar.

‘The Eid Al-Adha Festival sustains the momentum of the 2015 Qatar Summer Festival and Eid Al-Fitr Festival, which contributed to the rise of tourism numbers with a series of shows, a range of new attractions, special hotel rates, live ticketed shows and weekly raffle draws’, according to the Chief Marketing and Promotions Officer at QTA Mr Rashed Al-Qurese.

QTA will also be launching a campaign, with the Eid Al Adha Festival theme ‘Capture Joy’, inviting visitors and residents to capture the joyful memories associated with Eid and share their experiences of Eid in Qatar through images and words on various online social media platforms. QTA has launched two social media competitions in line with the theme, with the hashtags #ForYourEyesOnly and #EmoJoy, where participants try to guess images related to the joy of Eid as well as sharing their own joyous moments for a chance to win exciting prizes.

Eid in Qatar Events Schedule

All events timings and information have been provided by the official QTA Eid in Qatar website, where you can confirm details for any of the events you are interested in attending. UPDATE – With the announcement that Eid Al-Adha is now scheduled to be a day later than expected then you should definitely expect some changes to the timing of events. Katara Cultural Village – Eid in Qatar

There will be special Eid events at Katara including half hour Shadow Performance shows (shows start from 7.00pm; 8.00pm and 9.00pm) on Days 1 to 4 of Eid with amazing Fireworks Shows at 9.30pm for Eid Al-Adha Celebrations.

There will also be Eideyaa Giveaways for children at 7.00pm and 8.30pm daily.

 

Aspire Zone

Eid In Qatar Celebrations will also take place at Aspire Zone on Days 1 to 5 of Eid. Visitors will be able to enjoy a variety of activities, which will be held daily from 4.00pm and 9.00pm, such as kayaking in the lake at Aspire Park, Aspire train and horse-carriage tours, and pony rides in Aspire Park. There will also be daily Radio Control Car Races near Aspire Zone Roundabout.

Aspire Zone will also open its fields and courts throughout the holiday period for sports enthusiasts to practice their favorite sport. This includes the Aspire Zone public football pitches in Aspire Park and near Khalifa stadium; the tennis courts in the ladies’ club (click here to register) and the multipurpose facility for basketball and volleyball in Aspire Park (click here to register).

Aspire Zone will also offer its visitors additional activities such as cycling in the Aspire Zone area, and will make rental bicycles available – these can be reserved at the dedicated area near the kids playground from 4.00pm – 8.00pm.

Aspire Zone have also invited the public to come on September 25th Septmebr to Aspire Park (between 4.00pm and 6.00pm) for spectacular Water Sport Shows which will be performed during the Eid Holiday, and will include Fly Board, Jet Ski and Waterboarding.

The Malls

The Festival will offer a variety of daily family entertainment shows that will rotate between malls, from the traditional Ardha dance and the amazing balancing acts of the famed ‘Snoopy’, a finalist on Arabs Got Talent, to the amusing mini-stage show titled ‘Mr. Dropsy and the Bell-Boy’.

A special highlight this Eid will be the Frozen sing-a-long, where household names Elsa and Anna, accompanied by the snowman Olaf, will sing well-known tunes from the Disney movie along with crowds, young and old.

Shows will rotate between Hyatt Plaza, City Centre Doha, Ezdan Mall, Lagoona Mall, Al Khor Mall, and Dar Al Salam Mall between 4.00pm and 10.00pm.

In addition to roaming circus parades, balloon benders and flying carpets, malls will be putting on exclusive shows such as Aladdin (City Centre), Bob the Builder (Dar Al Salam), Dora the Explorer (Ezdan Mall), Cinderella (Lagoona), Play ‘Doh (Hyatt Plaza) and Kids Circus (Al Khor Mall). Qatar National Theatre & Where To Buy Tickets

Qatar Tourism Authority has also sponsored ‘The Wrestler’, an Arabic show starring actors Nasser Mohammed and Najwa Al Kubaisi with an ensemble of young actors including child musical superstar Hala Al Turk. The play has been written by Teyseer Abdullah and directed by Saad Burshed and will be performed at Qatar National Theatre. Organised by Tataloat for the Artistic & Cultural Prod.

The play will be showing through Days 1 to 7 of Eid, with show timing scheduled from 6.00pm to 8.00pm. Ticket pricing: First Class – 500 QR; Second Class – 400 QR; Third Class – 300 QR;  Fourth Class- 200 QR;  Fifth Class – 100 QR;  Sixth Class – 50 QR. Hamad International Airport

Al Samariyah Equestrian Centre

Horse Riding at Al Samariyah Equestrian Centre – Al Shahaniya on Days 1 – 4 of Eid. From 8.00 am – 9.00am and 4.00pm – 5.00pm. Entrance Fee – QR100 per person.Organised by Al Samariyah Equestrian Centre

Sheikh Faisal Al Thani Museum

Tours at Sheikh Faisal Al Thani Museum- Al Shahaniya Area on Days 1 – 4 of Eid. They offer tours from 9.00am – 5.00pm during the Eid in Qatar Festival. Organised by Sheikh Faisal Museum. There will also be Art Workshops covering Lego, Painting, Calligraphy and more. Entrance Fee: Children under 8 year old are free; children up to 18 year old priced at QR 10; Adult entrance costs QR15. Sout Al Rayyan Music Festival at Souq Waqif on Days 2 – 5 of Eid. From 9.00pm – midnight. First Night: Mesaed Al Blushi – Hatem Al-Iraqi , Second Night: Hassain Al Ali – Salah Al Zadjali , Third Night: Ali Abdelkarim – Diana Haddad , Fourth Night: Mizel Farhan – Khalid Abdulrahman. The Pearl – Qatar

Eid Festival at The Pearl – Qatar on Days 2 – 4 of Eid, from 6.00pm – 10.00pm. Enjoy children’s activities at Porto Arabia Boardwalk (20 La Croisette) and at Tickles & Giggles (18 La Croisette, The Pearl Qatar). Organised by The Pearl-Qatar.

Aqua Park

Enjoy Eid fromd Day 1 to 3 at Aqua Park, from 10.00am until 10.00pm; usual ticket prices apply. There will be Cartoon Mascots, Stilt Walkers, Kids Games, Arabic Live Band and Fire Juggler.

Novo Cinemas:

Celebrate Eid on Day 1 and 2 (24th – 25th September 2015) from 5.00pm until 9.00pm at Novo Cinemas, with Balloon Bending, Face Painting and Art Station for children.

Locations – Novo Cinemas, The Pearl-Qatar and 01 Mall.

Gate Mall, WestBay:

The Gate Mall and Salam Stores will be holding a varitey of activities within their multipurpose hall, located on the first floor of the mall. Eid Events will be held daily until the end of Eid. There will be family-friendly activities inclduing face painting, balloon twisting, bouncy castle, cartoon mascots, Muppet show and interactive storytelling sessions. There will also be a selection of confectionaries from Café Ceramique (including popcorn and ice cream); a Canon photo booth and a Henna artist.
