Get ready for to ‘pick’ your own groceries again Doha peeps as one of Doha’s best farmers market reopens!

The Mahaseel Festival is organised by Katara Cultural Village and just like last year’s event the focus is on local produce from Qatar’s agriculture and livestock industries.

The Katara Farmers Market was officially opened this morning by dignitaries and officials including the Director-General of Katara, Khalid Bin Ibrahim Al-Sulaiti, and various officials from the Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries Affairs and the Ministry of Municipality & Environment.

Visitors to the festival can expect a variety of products from local vegetables, flowers, honey and meat, poultry and diary items.

For those of you looking for traditional Qatari food there will also be stalls selling homemade foods such as Machbous.

Farm grown goods include aubergines, peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, courgettes, cauliflower, herbs, and chilis.

There are also animal products such as chicken, milk, cheese and eggs from Made In Qatar companies like Baladna, and Al Waha Poultry Company.

To keep the kids entertained there are craft activities, a bouncy castle activity area, and a train.

Katara has also arranged free porter services too. The best thing about the event is that produce prices are low – so there is no excuse to do your fresh food shop here!
