The Doha Marriott have their own version of the popular Ramadan Tents with the main lobby holding a Majlis-style Ramadan Tent with Arabic Coffee and Tea. At the Ramadan Tent you can hold Cobra, the falcon or have a traditional henna design done. This Majlis Ramadan Tent can also be booked in advance for groups of upto 30 people for an Iftar celebration. The Iftar Buffet can be found further inside the hotel at their Restaurant Gallery, where there is ample seating for both large and small groups. Diners can enjoy an Iftar Buffet showcasing 100 dishes from sunset until 8.00pm. There is also a Kids CLub for parents to leave their children under the supervised care of Marriott Doha staff members.
Marriott Doha’s Iftar Buffet runs throughout the Gallery and holds Arabic, Indian, Continental and Indonesian cuisine. There is a wide variety of salads and cold mezze including the popular Waldorf Salad, Fattoush, Moutabal, and Dolma. Seafood dishes included smoked salmon, cooked prawns, and Mussels cooked in Tomato Sauce.
The Indonesian Station successfully managed to provide a three course meal in itself with salad, main and dessert options available. The Beef Rendang was flavourful, but praise has to be shared equally to the other dishes particuarly the coconut Asinan Bogor Salad and the crispy Selada Bangkok. The Es Campur dessert was a cold creamy milk-based dessert, with chopped fruits including strawberries and melon. This entire station was a successful flavour hit with the Chef providing his version of traditional dishes.
The Indian station held a variety of salads, dips and breads to eat with the curry and rice dishes – with pickles available to spice up your meal. The Arabic station had an impressive Lamb Ouzi, live Arabic Bread station, live Shwarma Station and a variety of hot starters including Fatayer made with Spinach, Cheese or Meat fillings. The standout dishes were plentiful including the tasty Chicken Mograbhiya, Lebanese Baked Hammour, and Lamb Chops with Couscous.
Dessert options were plentiful covering both Arabic and Continental cuisine with Arabic Sweets, Cakes, Ice Cream and Kanafa. The Brownie was deliciously chocolately without being oversweet and was polished off with a large scoop of vanilla ice cream – yum!
Iftar Buffet: sunset until 8.00pm; priced at QR215 per person.
Don’t forget to visit the Majlis-style Ramadan Tent, showcasing traditional henna art, Falconry and Arabic Tea & Coffee station daily throughout the Holy Month. Be sure to take a Camel Selfie with Sahara and Bashoosh!
