Qatar’s restaurants are showing their commitment to supporting local producers. Although there are many local F&B outlets that already use local products, including organic vegetables. However, since the current blockade outlets across Qatar are committing to buying local wherever possible.
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) has taken the step to encourage restaurants, cafes and other food outlets to buy local. This includes food ingredients as well as beverages and other items. It is all part of the move to support national products, an initiative which is reflecting positively on Qatar’s economy.

A variety of restaurants are supporting local Qatari producers, despite the fact that outlets are experiencing some difficulties with the current situation. Two of the biggest concerns are the increased costs of some ingredients, and the difficulty in sourcing specific high-demand ingredients.
Italian restaurant Nonna Zanon has been using locally grown vegetables since its opening days. And now it is one of the many restaurants that have publicly shown their support by committing to buying local products.
