Qatar Eating was recently invited to attend Suhoor at Ritz Carlton’s Bedouin-themed Ramadan Tent. The Ramadan Tent has a grand entrance leading towards it and there are bedouin artifacts used throughout the lobby and Tent.
This homage to Arabic traditions is contrasted by the large screen on stage and the delicate overhanging chandeliers in the Al Wosail Ballroom. The Ritz Carlton have however managed to make the theme work in this large space through their excellent attention to detail – even the tablescapes are bedioun-themed.

Ritz Carlton Ramadan Tent 2015
There are bedouin tents in the lobby area directly outside the Ramadan Tent, whilst the VIP tables are decorated similarly but with Majlis seating and offers guests comfortable privacy. A water feature adds some nice ambience whilst the viewing screen inside shows animated scenes of Doha including the desert, Westbay skyline and Dhow boats. The Ritz Carlton’s Oud band and Tanoura dancer livened up the evening with their performances.
Ritz Carlton have designed and catered a Ramadan Tent which embodies the spirit of Bedouin life complete with a cooked Camel Head dish!
The Buffet menu changes regularly and provides Arabic, Oriental and Indian cuisine. Standout dishes included the flavourful Seafood Mango Salad; the crispy Tempura; the Lobster Bisque; Baked Hammour; and Chicken Curry.
There is a beautiful Fruit Carving Station which deserved attention whilst the Dried Fruits Display had the most amazing dried coconut ‘batons’ which provided a delicious tropical flavour! Ramadan Beverages included the popular Jallab drink.
The Arabic Sweets Display had all the usual local favourites including Baklava, Kunafa, Umm Ali and Loquimat. The Continental Desserts Display presented a variety of desserts including Tarts and Layered Cakes. Ice cream and fruity sorbets are available including a fantastic Mango & Passionfruit Sorbet. Desserts usually end a meal but we finished off with another helping of the delicious juicy dates and that addictively good dried coconut!
