For this Weekend edition of the Qatar Eating ‘Where To Eat This Weekend’ feature we are encouraging diners and foodies to venture a little further afield beyond your local neighbourhoods and usual haunts – get out of your comfort zone and leave the city!
We are heading to Souq Waqif restaurants in Wakra to check out the seriously good eats along the Wakra beachfront.
There are a variety of reasonably-priced sit-down family dining restaurants, and most have their own outdoor terraces – perfect for enjoying the cooler evenings!
Don’t neglect the cafes and eateries along the Wakra beachfront – they have interesting decor, yummy snacks and desserts on the menu.
So as the weather starts to cool down why not head to the restaurants and cafes at Souq Waqif in Wakra?
Souq Wakra Restaurants – Where To Eat This Weeknd (13-15th Oct)
Copacabana, Al Wakra
If you haven’t tried out this excellent Brazilian restaurant you are in for a treat! The dining areas are arranged in levels and offer outdoor, terrace, and indoor doing areas – head to the rooftop for views across the water.
Copacabana has an extensive a la carte menu, but the real magic begins in the evenings when the grills are fired up for the Churrascaria set menus. Unlimited skewers of meat are served to your table by friendly and informative servers. Even better is the excellent value – the set menus are priced from QR99 to QR199 depending on your choice of proteins. The Grilled Pineapple is not to be missed!

Menu items are varied with a focus on Tunisian dishes including Couscous and Makroona, however they do offer seafood, grills and pizza. Prices are reasonable and the portions are generous. The dessert crepes will definitely catch your attention.

Royal Tandoor, Al Wakra
The Royal Tandoor brand is a consistent favourite – regardless of location – and they’re open earlier than most of their neighbouring restaurants in Souq Waqif Wakra. Even better they are one of the first restaurants you walk up to as you enter the Wakra beachfront, so a good first stop in your first visit to the area.
If you’re new to North Indian cuisine be sure to ask for the server’s recommendations, although you can’t go wrong with their tandoor grill items, and their breads. They also have a Grand Khazana 4 Course Menu priced at QR99, which includes dessert.

This home-grown concept gets some undying love for its quirky interiors – think pop art meets Arab comic meets craft corner – this is the place you go to for a quick post-meal chat. With only waffles and drinks on the menu there is not much room for error. Take a good look at the extra options for the waffles, as the addition of a magnum ice-cream bar is our idea of a perfect dessert!
