When you’re craving authentic Belgium waffles then there is one place you must visit – the Waffle Factory. Located on The Pearl this brand uses the best ingredients to make crave-worthy waffles that not only look great but taste fantastic.
It’s the franchise outlet of the European Waffle Factory, famous in Belgium for its waffle creations. The waffle dough is freshly prepared everyday in the kitchen, using a traditional waffle recipe that has been handed down through generations.
Waffle Factory – Waffles For Every Mood
Savoury or sweet – whatever you’re in the mood for the Waffle Factory has you covered. For the Qatar franchise the owners received special permission to change up the signature menu so as to offer their own twist for the local market.
For a light snack you can choose the Waf, a savoury waffle with a choice of different fillings. This is definitely the surprising contender for best waffle in town with the Waffle Burger recipe created by local Qatari Chef Jboor who has already made a name for himself for his culinary creations at a local artisan cafe.
This Waffle Burger is a savoury winner with freshly ground and seasoned Angus Beef, and the usual suspects – cheese, lettuce, tomato, beef bacon and pickles. The patty is prepared using a smashed cooking technique which brings out the best of the meat.
The final touch is a tangy sauce adding zing to your eating experience. The waffle acts as the ‘bun’ element for the burger, and it really gives a crispy twist to the usual soft texture you would expect from bread.
Then there are the sweet waffles – you can choose between Liege, Brussels or Waffines. The most popular waffle – the brussels – is rectangular and has deeper holes for the toppings.
In contrast, the liege waffle is a sweeter round waffle topped with crunchy sugar, making it a more decadent dessert option. Finally there is the Waffine, – its a thin waffle that has been filled with toppings such as chocolate or nutella spread.
The Liege Waffle with ice cream and fruit is an amazing dessert. Think hot crispy waffle, with smooth Haagen Daaz vanilla ice cream contrasted with the tart sweetness of fresh strawberries, drizzled with rich Belgian chocolate.
It’s a sweet seductive dessert, perfect for sharing – if you’re feeling generous!
There is a combo meal option where you can order a Lunch Waf, either a Leige or Brussels Waffle, and a soft drink. Prices differ depending on what lunch waffle you order – savings aren’t significant but it is a good option as portion sizes are decent.
After eating the Lunch Waf you may find it hard to finish a sweet waffle by yourself. Our suggestion is to go with a friend and order an individual lunch Waf, and combo meal and then share the sweet waffle for dessert.
Waffle Factory is quite a small venue, but there are big plans for updates to the menu and the interior. Currently it has a fast food vibe to it, but don’t let that put you off – the waffles are delicious and definitely worth (many) return visits.
UPDATE: The menu has been updated – there are now Chicken Waffles on the menu, and more options for the sweet waffles.
